چکیده

We prove an anti-folk theorem for repeated games with private monitoring. We assume that the monitoring is su¢ ciently connected, the strategies have a …nite past (they are measurable with respect to …nite partitions of past histories), and that each period players’ preferences over actions are modi…ed by smooth idiosyncratic shocks. In all repeated game equilibria, each period play is an equilibrium of the stage game. When the monitoring is approximately connected, and equilibrium strategies have a uniformly bounded past, then each period play is an approximate equilibrium of the stage game.

An anti-folk theorem for finite past equilibria in repeated games with private monitoring

We prove an anti-folk theorem for repeated games with private monitoring. We assume that the strategies have a finite past (they are measurable with respect to finite partitions of past histories), that each period players’ preferences over actions are modified by smooth idiosyncratic shocks, and that the monitoring is sufficiently connected. In all repeated game equilibria, each period play is...

Efficiency in Repeated Games Revisited: The Role of Private Strategies∗

Most theoretical or applied research on repeated games with imperfect monitoring has restricted attention to public strategies ; strategies that only depend on history of publicly observable signals, and perfect public equilibria (PPE); sequential equilibria in public strategies. The present paper sheds light on the role of private strategies ; strategies that depend on players’ own actions in ...

The Folk Theorem for Repeated Games with Observation Cost

This paper studies repeated games with privately observed signals where it is feasible but costly to observe other players’ past actions accurately. At the end of each period, players decide the set of players to monitor by paying the corresponding observation costs. We show that the folk theorem holds for any finite stage game that satisfies the fulldimensionality condition and a minimal disti...

The Folk Theorem for Games with Private Almost-Perfect Monitoring∗

We prove the folk theorem for discounted repeated games under private, almost-perfect monitoring. Our result covers all finite, n-player games satisfying the usual full-dimensionality condition. Mixed strategies are allowed in determining the individually rational payoffs. We assume no cheap-talk communication between players and no public randomization device.

The Folk Theorem in Repeated Games with Individual Learning

We study repeated games where players observe noisy private signals about the unknown state of the world in every period. We find a sufficient condition under which the folk theorem obtains by ex-post equilibria. Our condition is satisfied for generic signal distributions as long as each player has at least two possible private signals. Journal of Economic Literature Classification Numbers: C72...
